Us here at Firth Gin
During my youth, my friends and I would be happy with whatever drink our Saturday job pay would buy us before we ventured out to clubs, usually a few cans of lager, or if we were feeling flush the odd bottle of wine.
As time and maturity progressed I started experimenting with gin. It took some time for me to realise that gin is a varied genre of alcohol and I wanted to explore this more. I wanted to see what all the excitement was about. It was around this time that I met my wife. It became our aim to change our level of knowledge from novice to ‘ginknowledgable’; we are on our way there.
Three years ago I bought my own Still, nicknamed ‘Stinky’ – named by our youngest boy. Month after month I would experiment with different botanicals. The first year would yield some very weird and wonderful tastes. As a Leither, I follow the Leith motto of ‘perseverance’. After many trials (and errors!) we decided during the ‘Lockdown era’ to capitalise on our home learning by exploring our wonderful environment which is right on our own doorstep. The smells and sights excited us. The thought of adding different ingredients to our gin from our coastlines and our garden filled me with delight. Who was to know …. Things you need are right there, on your own doorstep. The philosophy of Firth Gin …. go out there, explore ….. and enjoy (responsibly!)
As a family, we are passionate about looking after our environment. Working in partnership with ‘Ocean Generation. ’ we want to highlight the need to look after and appreciate our wonderful coastline and it’s seas. For each bottle of Firth Gin bought, we will make a donation to Plastic Oceans UK. So, while you enjoy Firth Gin, you are safe in the knowledge that you are doing good by our seas.
